David Shrigley is a British artist known for his humorous and satirical drawings, sculptures, and installations. Born in 1968 in Macclesfield, England, he studied at Glasgow School of Art and has exhibited his work internationally. Shrigley's work often features simple, childlike drawings accompanied by absurd or ironic captions, which comment on contemporary society and culture. He has been commissioned for public artworks, including a giant thumbs-up sculpture in Trafalgar Square, and has also published numerous books of his drawings and writings. Shrigley has been nominated for the Turner Prize and awarded an OBE for his contributions to the arts.
